Largybey - The Estate
The aims of Largybey Estate:
To ensure that the land it owns on the Isle of Arran remains un-spoilt and as nature intended, thus protecting the natural habitat of the creatures which have made it their home.
To allow the many people who love the truly stunning Isle of Arran, the chance to own a small part of it.
The Laird/Lady title is a genuine offer but is simply an added bonus.
Location
Largybey Estate is located just south of the village of Whiting Bay on the east coat of the the Isle of Arran, Scotland. To avoid any confusion for those people attempting to trace their ancestry etc, please note that the land known as Largybey estate is not related in any way to the clachan of Largybeg that is nearby. The easiest way to find the estate is to locate the famous Giants Graves which are within 1 mile of the estate. Exact directions to the estate will be provided when a plot is purchased.
Wildlife Your plot will be part of an estate that plays host to the following creatures: Red Squirrels, Red Deer, Otters, Badgers, Rabbits, Hares, Mink, Adders and the Common Lizard to name but a few. In addition, from your plot, as it is located near the coast, it is possible to see on occasion: Basking Sharks, Minke Whale, Dolphins, Grey Seals and Harbour Porpoises.
Birds Over 200 species of bird have been recorded on Arran including including the Black Guillemot, Eider, Hen Harrier and Buzzards which regulary circle over your estate, which is also home to many other varieties of bird. Bird life in the hills is dominated by golden eagle, hen-harrier, buzzard, grouse, curlew, raven, and wheatear. The coastline supports a wide variety of birds including eider, gannet, cormorant, shelduck, oystercatcher, red-breasted merganser, redshank, red-throated diver and fulmar.
Webcam Lairds/Ladies will be granted access to the estate webcam, allowing you to see the spectacular views from nearby your plot and keep an eye on your estate and its widlife.
Conservation The aim of Largybey Estate is ensure that the land remains un-spoilt and as nature intended, thus protecting the natural habitat of the creatures which have made it their home. 2 large ponds have been installed to help insects and other wildlife to flourish. The estate has woodlands containing a variety of trees and a fast running burn, which all help to provide a varied landscape and maximise the potential for wildlife. Arran is a Red Squirrel Stronghold and we are proud to help protect these beautiful creatures. |
